Equal Status Is the Birth Right Of Oldies

With the fall of the fascism and monarchism, the society took the switchover from the monopolistic realm to the democratic system. Rousseau’s theory ‘by the people, for the people and of the people’ is very much effective to enhance the democratic ambience in the society. Now with the time advancement and the vicissitude of the formation of the society there is the complete guarantee of the equal status in every sphere of activity. It is the fact that society is steel reeling under the pain and agony of the class division, casteism, gender bias, color distinction, inequality and racism.

Over a prolonged period of time, the whole world is passing through a crisis. The tremendous impact of chauvinistic attitude of people, jingoism, vandalism and subversion on people enhances the social degradation and derailment from the true rut of humanity, philanthropism and universal brotherhood. So far as the aged generation is concerned, people often ignore the importance of the aged persons in the society. As they are physically weak and infirm therefore people consider them the burden of the society. Their life seems to be oscillating between to be and not to be. This type of uncertainty gives birth to another social folly that is ostracization or solitary confinement from the rest of the world. However it is a matter of great pleasure that the government in unison with the non-governmental organizations has taken some initiatives to give the concrete shape to plan and programs which are designed to upgrade the life style of oldies. In factories and offices aged people are given some advantages.

After retirement old people are awarded with superannuation and pension. They are given some facility over different types of life insurance and health insurance. There is the arrangement of reservation in transportation network. They are given some travel allowance to make a peaceful trip. However there is a lot of things to be done for the upgradation of the aged persons. They should be treated as normal persons. They should be taken care of with much attention. General persons must share views and thoughts with the aged persons.
