New Hope For Seniors With Mobility Alternatives

There is no denying the fact that the aged persons in America show tremendous proclivity towards the driving of the cars and vehicles in the streets. The percentage of the aged drivers is increasing day by day. However it is true that to drive cars on the road require some physical ability and mental patience. Lack of readiness of mind and proper physical activity there is the higher risk of the occurrence of the street accidents at the period of decrepitude. Therefore there is requirement of such mobility alternative arrangement for those who suffer the burden of the senility. There should be proper arrangement and programs to train the aged drivers to drive the vehicles with much safety while driving on roads.

It is the fact the term senior mobility stands for the capacity of aged persons traveling from one spot to another. With the change of the society, seniors will have to go with the current of the modernity. Basically seniors rely on private automobiles as a mode of transportation. Approximately 90 percent of personal trips  over 65 are taken in the automobiles from one place to another as drivers or as passengers. Less than 2 percent trips are done by public transit. It is the fact those who have the hobby of driving can’t give up the habit of driving overnight. They think that without driving they can’t communicate with the rest of the world. A short survey shows that half of non drivers over 65 or 3.6 million Americans basically stay at home on any given day for want of good transportation.

As a result those who are non drivers find it difficult to communicate with other in comparison to other persons who can drive. On the other hand there are many Americans over the age group of 65 who show reluctance to drive cars under the fear of the accident. Without better alternative, they can’t drive in the street at this old age. However complete separation from driving cars can snowball into the acute loneliness and isolation which can hamper the peace and tranquility of life.
